Owl Hunt 2017

owl hunt 2

The annual Mill Bank Owl hunts returns this month on 10 June – a perfect, fun-filled family day out to enjoy our local surroundings and help raise money for a worthy cause – a new classroom for local students at St Mary’s school.

The theme of this year’s hunt, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, is Around the Village in 80 Owls so you’ll need to be prepared to search for owls along two specially designed interest trails along the valley from Japan, Italy, America, China, Switzerland and many more. Plus, you’ll have chance to get up close with a huge variety of wild birds, try your hand at an Air Bourne Simulator, or browse the food, craft and souvenir stalls at the Hunt Hub at the school.

Many of the owls on the interest trail have been made by children, parents and the local community who attended workshops run by local artists to create the replica birds from recycled materials and, if previous year’s creations are anything to go by, you’ll be treated to a visual feast along both routes.

This year’s hunt will take place on Saturday 10th June between 11am-3pm. Head to St Mary’s School on Mill Bank Road at the heart of the village to pick up your trail sheet and get started.
